Thanksgiving 2015

I love my extended family and am blessed to have such a fun and Christ centered group to celebrate such important events and holidays with. To be able to get together at the beach anytime we want to surf, paddleboard, fish, build sandcastles and put our toes in the sand makes us that much more blessed!!! Not only do I have the most amazing mother and father-in-law, but EVERY single one of Fred’s Sisters, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins are what I think of as my own family now. I love them dearly and we have SO much fun when we are together (sometimes too much fun)!

We spend Thanksgiving and summers (and as much time in between as we can) at Fred’s Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Demery ‘s who live on Tybee Island. They are such great hosts and I have developed such a special bond with the two of them. I love them like they are my own Aunt and Uncle and am so grateful to have this family to call all mine! I’m pretty sure, if Fred ever left me, they would still want to keep me! KIDDING…or maybe not!!! LOL. Uncle Demery (Fred’s Daddy’s Brother) is a former FBI agent. He is one of the coolest cats around and I love hearing his stories about putting away bad guys like John Wayne Gacy. Yeah, he’s a total bad ass. No joke. And Aunt Bonnie is one of the most talented artists I know and I can’t wait to show you the beautiful pieces she has created for me. Oh, and it’s a total extra that they live on the beach!

Uncle Demery had this apron on while frying up the turkeys with his son-in-law, Troy! I don’t worry about anything when I’m hanging out with him, I mean who would when you could hit the ‘5’ target with your eyes closed?! Fred’s sisters and cousins have become some of my dearest friends and I just love them to death. I am blessed that Knox has them and their children to be loved on and to play and grow up with for the rest of his life.

I can’t wait for the memories that we will continue to make year after year, as we all continue to grow up, because the good Lord knows that we all still have our own growing up to do! I’m pretty sure He will still be watching us grow up well into our 90’s!!! We love to drink wine, socialize (loudly) and be ridiculously silly!

Fred’s cousin Heather, who was a cheerleader at The University of Georgia, has become one of my dearest soul mates and I am so thankful for her precious love, spiritual friendship and the unwavering support on this new adventure of mine that she has shown me. She is beautiful, strong, hard working, carefree and a confident momma that I have looked up to since the day we met.

And to top it off we have the same taste in clothes and jewelry, so it’s kind of like a match made in fashion heaven! Here we all are toasting to our matching Kendra Scott ‘Rayne’ Necklaces!!!

I can’t imagine having another family, other than my own, to share the rest of my life with, because the one that God has let me be a part of has enriched me in so many ways. From, the deep relationships that I have with Fred’s sisters, his cousins, and each one of their significant others, my cup runneth over.

These scripture verses exude and depict the relationships in my husband’s family, as well as my own family’s. We were both raised to live by the scripture of God’s Word and I am forever thankful to know true love by so many that love me, each other and our spouses, just like Jesus does.

Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Ephesians 5:33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
