The best part of waking up is Folgers® in your cup! I am a serious coffee lover who covets my morning coffee routine. Waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee is the jumpstart I need to open my eyes, lift my head up and get my feet moving! My day always starts with a cup or two, but sometimes I am running late in the morning and need a quick on the go breakfast. Those are the days I love having a Coffee Protein Smoothie using Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend.

Along with the coveted ritual of a cup (or two!) of coffee in the morning, the best way to start your day is fueling your body with protein with your cup of Joe. A coffee protein shake using your leftover brewed coffee from the morning is a quick and healthy breakfast, which will give you an extra boost of energy, keeping you feeling full until lunch (or that next cup of coffee)!Folgers Coffeehouse Chocolate Coffee Protein SmoothieI love a medium to heavy bodied coffee for my morning cup, but especially for this smoothie that taste just like a frappé. The new Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend has a distinct taste starting smooth and finishing bold. It is perfect for this smoothie, because even adding the protein powder and a banana, the flavor of the coffee still stands out. You can find it at your local Publix on the coffee aisle in ground canisters and K-Cups.Kim Bishop getting Folgers Coffeehouse Coffee at PublixIf you have never used protein powders or count macros and are over your limit, this shake is very forgiving and will do just fine without  it! Even without the protein powder, it makes a delicious low-calorie pick me up at any time of the day using only ice, almond milk and leftover morning coffee from the carafe. If you don’t have any leftover coffee or prefer K-Cups, you can make iced coffee at the press of a button! Simply put in your Folgers® Coffeehouse Blend K-Cup, remove the bottom plate from your Keurig and place a medium sized cup with a handful of ice cubes under and brew. It may not be chilled enough to enjoy, so add a few more ice cubes and stir until your desired temperature is reached.Ice cubes melting in coffee cup olgers Coffeehouse Chocolate Coffee Protein Smoothie olgers Coffeehouse Chocolate Coffee Protein SmoothieTwo Coffee Protein ShakesIf you love these shakes or just want an iced coffee as a more cost effective alternative, you can brew a pot any time of day,  let it cool and pour into an air tight jug and refrigerate. It will keep up to five days and you can enjoy a shake anytime on the go! Just toss all the ingredients in a blender, top with unsweetened coconut or dark chocolate if desired, add a straw and enjoy a frothy low calorie frappe!

Hi Linda! I do love using frozen bananas, too, but sometimes I like to keep the calories down so I leave it out! Both ways are delicious!!! 🙂
