10 Day Holiday Detox (New Years Health and Fitness Challenge Part 1)

Every year I say it won’t happen, and every year it does! I gain 10 pounds over the holidays. It never fails! So, to get those extra pounds off I have created a 10 Day Holiday Detox, as part of our New Years Health and Fitness Challenge!

This year I went from 118 to 128 and on my frame that’s alot! So, this year I am starting off 2016 with a nutrition and fitness BANG! I am doing a modified “Daniel Fast.” My husband and I have done these in the past for spiritual reasons and I love it! However this time, I just need a nutrition reset, so I this 10 day Holiday Detox will help get the weight off fast! This is part 1 of a 3 part Fitness and Nutrtion Jumpstart to get you one step closer to your fitness goals.

In part 1, I will focus on cleaning up my diet and doing ALOT of cardio. Part 2 and 3 will bring back more protein sources as well as a more balanced approach to fitness, including weights (Yes, ladies, we should be lifting weights! And NO, you won’t get bulky!!!).

4-6 days a week:

45-60 min Cardio: i.e. Swimming, Running, Walking, Spinning, Kickbox, Dance (Zumba), etc.
10-15 min steam room or sauna (if you have access)

A typical day for me will look like this:

Wake up: Earl Grey Tea with a teaspoon of Coconut Oil

Breakfast: Apples (cut and diced) with almonds and cinnamon and a squeeze of lemon

Morning Snack: A handful of walnuts and 4oz of Pomegranate juice

Lunch: Smoothie: 1-2 Cups Spinach, 1 banana, 1 cup frozen berries (I like Cascadian Farm Antioxident Blend), 1/2 cup almond milk, ice and water

Afternoon Snack: Avocado with tomatos and a drizzle of olive oil

Dinner: Roasted sweet potato, brussel sprouts, tomatos and carrots with olive oil

Dessert: Smoothie: 1-2 cups spinach, 2 Tablespoons PB21/2 banana, 1 cup almond milk, ice and water

You can do this!!! It won’t be easy, but it will be so worth it! It will take focus and determination, but your body and your brain will thank you! Take a picture of yourself in a bathing suit on the morning you start. Take another picture on the morning after your last day (day 11). Once you complete part 1, you will be ready for part 2!

It is very helpful to have a friend and/or partner to do this with you. Kim and I will be participating at the same time, so please follow my pinterest board and group for daily inspiration! Lets do this together!!! Good Luck!  This will be challenging and FUN!
